Raise Your Voice 2026: Classic Edition -
Actor call-out

Project Information:

It's BACK for a second edition!

 

In 2024 we launched a new online series called ‘Raise Your Voice’ which is part of both our Education and Community Outreach Programmes.

 

This year it returns with a whole different theme!

 

For 2026 we are focusing on Classical Greek monologues and speeches.

 

The monologues need to be learnt and then will be recorded and uploaded to our Digital Hub for audiences to both enjoy and learn about Greek Theatre.

Key Information:

Expression of Interest Deadline - Friday 31st July


Recording Date* - Friday 14th August
Location - The Edge Theatre & Arts Centre (Manchester Rd, Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Manchester M21 9JG) 


Pay - Unpaid but expenses paid for. You will get access for to the footage to use yourself. 

 

*For the recording date you must be free for 45 minutes between 9am and 5pm. If you have a preference of time please let us know when applying.

Character Breakdown:

Electra (Female identifying. Late 20s)
Electra is a major heroine in Greek mythology, best known as the vengeful daughter of King Agamemnon and Queen Clytemnestra.

Medea (Female identifying. 40s)
A sorceress and princess of Colchis, she sacrifices everything to help Jason (of the Argonauts) secure the Golden Fleece.

Creon (Male identifying. 50s)
The King of Thebes. He represents the uncompromising forces of the state, civil law, and male authority, often serving as a tragic foil to more rebellious or spiritually driven characters.

Hercules (Male identifying. Mid 40s to early 50s)
Is the greatest of all divine heroes, known for his superhuman strength and his famous Twelve Labours. He is a demigod, born as the son of Zeus and the mortal woman Alcmene.

Antigone (Female identifying. Mid 20s)
The daughter of Oedipus, her story revolves around her fierce defiance of the state to honour her family and religious duties.

Oedipus (Male identifying. 30s)
Is the tragic King of Thebes. Famous for unwittingly fulfilling a prophecy to murder his biological father, King Laius, and marry his mother, Queen Jocasta.

Ismene (Female identifying. Early 20s)
The sister of Antigone and the daughter of Oedipus and Jocasta. She serves as a foil to her sister; while Antigone represents rebellion and devotion to family, Ismene represents reason, law, and traditional female obedience.

Clytemnestra (Female identifying. 40s)
Is the fiercely complex Queen of Mycenae in Greek mythology, best known as the treacherous wife who murders her husband, King Agamemnon, to avenge their daughter Iphigenia's sacrifice.

How to Apply?

Actors MUST be based in Greater Manchester.

Send your acting CV/Spotlight Pin to peripeteiatheatre@outlook.com with 'Raise Your Voice' in the subject of the email along with which role(s) you are interested in. 

We are especially seeking submissions from under-represented backgrounds and those who are new within the industry. This includes but not limited to LGBTQIA+, Global Majority, those that identify as a woman and recent graduates.
