Welcome to THE BOILER ROOM – our Community Outreach Programme.

​2023 saw a process of development and growth for us at Peripeteia Theatre Company. We now felt in a place to support artists with their own creative practice and development.

​

The Boiler Room servers as our community outreach programme and its inspired name comes from The Boilerhouse Theatre which situated in the Egham Campus Royal Holloway, University of London. To pay homage to our training and the seedling of our company.

​

The programme’s initiative is both an online and in person format for script readings, workshops, masterclasses, mentorship, discussions and a safe space for theatre artists to share their work. The price of this programme will be free as costs saw during the cost-of-living crisis. We hope it is a place where artists feel comfortable to take risks and invent something new with the support of the members of Peripeteia Theatre Company. There is also the opportunity for scripts to developed into future Peripeteia productions.

In 2023 we supported writers through our weekly in-person playwriting club which is hosted at 53two in Manchester. Other ways in which we supported artists during the launch period was to facilitate readthroughs of new scripts. This was done both online and in-person. These scripts included Dazzling and Damned by Katherine White, The Tear by Joseph Conway, Threeway by Aaron Langford and Dirt by Tom Stockley.
2024 will see us introduce networking events, masterclasses and workshops as well.

​We are also happy to announce that submissions for actors, directors and scripts are now open and will remain open throughout the year. When submitting scripts for development, they have to be a minimum run time of 15 minutes, there is no maximum length. Please consider the practicality of cast sizing as well.

​

​If submitting to us as an actor or director please state your location in the email. Actors, please send through your Spotlight Pin or CV. Directors please send through your CV.

This is also a chance for you to tell us what type of workshops and masterclasses you want – we will do our best to arrange them. Please email your scripts and ideas to peripeteiatheatre@outlook.com with BOILER ROOM in the subject heading.

Dates are not set in stone and can be flexible to accommodate people’s best availability, you will get plenty of notice before each session.
