📣WRITER CALL OUT PAID OPPORTUNITY📣

 

MY GAY BEST FRIEND IS BACK FOR THE THIRD EDITION!

 

We are looking for 5 writers that are transgender and/or non-binary to write for this year’s event.

 

About the Event.

After the huge success of the past two editions of My Gay Best Friend and other unspoken letters, we are delighted to bring it back for a third year in a row! Now more than ever voices within the LGBTQIA+ Community need a stage for their voices to be heard!

Given the ruling of the Supreme Court earlier this year, for this edition of MGBF, will commission 5 new pieces of work written by trans and/or non-binary writers. The performance for this event will happen later on in the year in Manchester but will also be filmed and posted on our Digital Hub after the event has happened.

We are seeking writers to write extended speeches/monologues/letters about one of the following themes:

 

1. Transgression – An act that goes against a law, rule, or code of conduct.

2. Transformation – A mark of change in form, nature, and/or appearance.

3. Transcendence – Existence and experience beyond the normal physical level.

​

The piece can include personal experiences. You also have the option to remain anonymous when the letter is performed and this does not effect the selection process.

Important Information.

 

You must be/identify as transgender and/or non-binary.

 

The timing of the piece should be no longer than 15 minutes.

 

The commission fee for this is £150.
