If an object had consciousness, what would its thoughts be? What experience of the world would it have? And how would human beings look like from its perspective?

'Sandy' was a play that explored the unique place between reality and fantasy in which two similar and yet very different 'women' were able to meet, think, talk and

be themselves.

'Sandy' was a two hander play about femininity and womanhood which, by exploring an encounter between a woman and a “female” object, revealed their relationship to the world and the role they cover in society. Both characters long for freedom, but the expectations and definitions imposed on them make their goal almost - or fully - impossible to reach.

This production was originally performed as part of the Greater Manchester Fringe Festival, at the Salford Arts Theatre in 2021 before being performed at the Living Record Festival and Brighton Fringe Festival in 2022.

Greater Manchester Fringe Festival

The Greater Manchester Fringe first took place in 2012 with 6 different venues and a handful of shows in each. Since then then Greater Manchester Fringe has grown each year with more performances, more ticket sales and more venues taking part.

The festival is a multi-venue open access arts festival providing support for all art forms to show their work, creating an arts community, encouraging first time participation in arts production and performances across Greater Manchester.

More information about the festival can be found here.

2021

"This is A-grade fringe theatre: an incredibly innovative piece of writing and direction which is also fantastically well performed. The net yield is a well-hung brain teaser that cheekily tickles and titillates from the moment it starts and continues pestering long after it’s finished."

- The Greater Manchester Reviewer.

"Sandy is a one-act play that packs a real punch. It’s no exaggeration to say that this was the hardest-hitting of the shows I saw at this year’s festival"

2022

The Living Records Festival

Created by the Living Records Theatre Company in 2021 to a huge success! We returned for the second year in a row with pre-recorded version of Sandy, that was shown throughout the festival.

Each festival participant had access to create their own microsite which served as a performance venue for their piece. Once a ticket was purchased a household could gain access to this page and watch the show.

More information about the festival and the Living Records Theatre Company can be found here.

The Brighton Fringe Festival

After our hugely successful run in 2021 at the Manchester Fringe Festival and an online version earlier in 2022 as part of the Living Records Festival, we were extremely delighted to take Sandy on tour and travel across the country to be a part of the Brighton Fringe Festival!

We are also performed an updated version of script that further explored the themes that make Sandy so loved and unique by it's audience! We received an incredibly reception from all who watched.

We performed in Rotunda Theatre's pop-up venue 'the Bubble' which was situated in Regency Square. More information about Rotunda Theatre can be found here.

"This is a strong ambitious piece of theatre which addresses big themes. It does so with boldness and also compassion. The performances are very good and we come away with much to reflect upon. It engages well with the wider world and deserves to be seen."
